The Fatal Impact by Alan Moorehead


This 1966 book coined a term that still is used to describe disastrous impacts of more powerful cultures on weaker ones. Moorehead describes the effects of initial European contacts with Tahiti, Australia, and the Antarctic, giving special attention to the voyages of Captain Cook.

A hardcover edition with cream-coloured boards, blue spine and gilt lettering. The illustrated dust jacket is unclipped with some rubbing along the edges. There is some toning and foxing throughout but the text, black and white photographs and diagrams are clear and legible. There is a black ink annotation on the inside front panel of the dust jacket.

Now in a protective plastic cover to prevent damage.
