Margaret Tempest was an illustrator (1892-1982) of classic tales and gave the such vitality that they came to life with warmth and wit. Her partnership with Alison Uttley lasted for forty years.

A collection of five hardcover edition books. Bright illustrations by the author accompany her own text, in these books that are printed in vivid blue. Pink cloth spine, illustrated paper covered boards, illustration to upper board, decorated pink endpapers. There is a black pencil mark on the inside front page at the top right hand corner of each book. There is foxing and toning throughout but the text and illustrations are clear and legible. There is rubbing to the edges pf the books. Now in a clear protective cover to minimise damage.
