Original hardcover in dust jacket, 248 pages, 17 colour plates, 56 b/w illustrations, 2 maps (one folding), folding plate showing the lineage, very good condition. Still one of the most important books on the History of the Karmapa school, with important photographs of the Lamas of the lineage, as well as of treasures taken from Tsurphu, which are now in Rumtek, but which I have not found to be published elsewhere, like a series of statues carved from rhinoceros horn by the 10th Karmapa. Uncommon first (and only) edition. Scarce.
