Qantas Empire Airways Ltd and more particularly the air crews did many a gallant deed, in unarmed aircraft at great risk, in the face of the Japanese enemy.
QEA aircraft and crews were used in evacuating civil and military personnel from Singapore, Java, Timor ,New Guinea, Darwin and Broome and frequently under fire.

Many Qantas personnel were bestowed citations and awards for bravery some of which are listed in this book .

Description

A 1944 hard cover edition with blue cloth cover, gilt lettering and unclipped dust jacket. There is some rubbing to the edges and the dustcover is torn in half and some pieces missing. The main damage is at the spine area where it has detached from the front and the back cover.  The text and black and white photos are clear and legible but there is slight oxing and toning throughout. Pages have discoloured. The book comes with original newspaper articles. There is a flight time flyer stapled to the front inside page. There is also a copy of the Qantas Empire Airways Staff News from February 1948. Vol 2 #14

It is signed on the title page by the author and various other Qantas employees of the era( please see photograph) About 15 signatures in total. There is a previous sellers stamp on the title page.

Even though the cover is not in great condition – this book is rare and perfect for Qantas collectors
