This book provides a unique view of art works from widely different contexts ranging from Aborigines in Australia, past and present, to Prehistoric Europe. Without seeking to demonstrate theories of direct contact or diffusion, it focuses on a theme which must be relevant to all arts from any continent, and from any period- the relationship of form to meaning.
