Offer a brief developmental and operational history of each type of aircraft, the information is generally accurate and reliable (we’re talking a 1960s publication here). William Green laid the groundwork for this pioneering effort. Each type is well illustrated, with reasonably comprehensive side profiles of major sub-types as well as a highly detailed 3-view artwork. Even 50+ years on, many of the photographs have not found their way into more recent publications.
This was arguably the first (and very successful) attempt to cut through the wartime and post-war propaganda, nationalistic hype etc. to objectively lay bare the strengths and weaknesses of the respective designs.

There is a previous sellers paper label on the inside front cover. There is foxing and toning throughout but the text and black and white illustrations are clear and legible.
