Notes Towards the Definition of Culture, critical treatise by T.S. Eliot that originally appeared as a series of articles in New England Weekly in 1943. It was published in book form in 1948. In the Notes, Eliot presents culture as an organic, shared system of beliefs that cannot be panned or artificially induced.

A hardcover edition with dark grey boards, gilt lettering and clipped, illustrated dust cover. There is some foxing and toning throughout but the text is clear and legible. The dust cover has rubbing and wear to the extremities and also some tearing. There is a previous owner’s blue ink inscription on inside front page. There is blue ink underling on pages 26, 41, 68.
Now in a protective plastic cover.
