Though a journalist Cyril Pearl also wrote books, more than twenty of them, in the last three decades of his life. He had a special interest in social history, biography and politics, and research for these works sometimes took him overseas. His book Wild Men of Sydney, exposing corruption in colonial Sydney, was published in 1958. As an editor, he published many great Australian writers, including Lennie Lower.  He was an accomplished raconteur and humorist.

A hardcover edition with yellow boards, black lettering and motif on the front cover and illustrated unclipped dust jacket. The is a blue ink inscription on the inside front page dedicated ” for George…………Cyril Pearl Christmas 1969″. There is foxing and toning throughout but the text is clear and legible. There is some rubbing and tearing to the edges of the dust cover. The dust jacket also has a piece missing at the bottom edge of the spine and a tear. There is some fading to the edges of the book.

Now in a clear plastic, removable cover to protect from further damage.
