Auntie Mame is a 1955 novel by Patrick Dennis that chronicles the madcap adventures of a boy, Patrick, growing up as the ward of his deceased father’s eccentric sister, Mame Dennis. The book is a work of fiction inspired by the author’s eccentric aunt, Marion Tanner, whose life and outlook in many ways mirrored those of Mame. In real life, Dennis was raised by his parents.

Description

A hardcover edition with black cloth boards, gilt lettering and clipped dust jacket. The dust jacket has a tear to the top edge of the spine and a smaller tear to the bottom edge of the spine. There is rubbing, creasing and staining to the dust cover. There is foxing and toning throughout but the text is clear and legible.

First published in 1955 – this edition is the Seventh Impression July 1957, published by Frederick Muller, London.
