The author, a curator at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, examines drawings produced by Aboriginal artists between 1803 and 1903. The main artists are Tommy McCrae (c1823-1901), William Barak (c1824-1903) and Ulladulla Mickey (c1820-1891) who painted during the late 1890s.

This book contains a comprehensive catalogue of the works.  It provides a needed and fascinating record of this elemental meeting of Aboriginal and European cultures.
