Twenty years ago Australia systemically discriminated against homosexual women and men. people who did not conform to society’s heterosexual norms faced persecution at every turn – from parliaments and the law, the churches, the medical and psychiatric professions, the education system, the police, government departments, private employers and ordinary citizens.
The discrimination was documented in 1976 by the Tribunal on Homosexuals and Discrimination, which heard the stories of 44 victims and recommended drastic social and legal changes.
This book presents an edited version of the Tribunal proceedings and looks at the situation for gay men and women today. The book is in good condition. some discolouration to the spine. No foxing to pages.
Signed by all 4 authors with a personal dedication “To Geoff… ” from Peter de Waal.
