18 pages, with a full-colour double-page pop-up section at front and rear (2 in total), lifting panel, also with numerous full-colour illustrations throughout. The front cover has a cut-out with a plastic window giving 3D illusion of looking in, all parts working.
First Edition, spine slightly loose with some wear and tanning, very slight marking to boards, bumped edges and corners, illustrations nice and bright with colour vibrant, interior in good condition, exterior good condition, quarter-bound with full-colour pictorial boards and cloth spine, pop-up full-colour endpapers, 33 x 24 cms. The colours are strong and vibrant. No writing inside the book. The edges of several pages have been eaten by silverfish (see photos) – but not near the writing, just the edges of the pages. Otherwise a good copy of a scarce but collectable book.
Vojtěch Kubašta’s three-dimensional books made him the publishing house’s best-known book designer and illustrator. His pop-up books have been published in 24 different languages and 35 million copies have been sold. Today, original editions of his illustrations and books are sought after by collectors from around the world.
